What personal data do I collect?
I hold the details you directly supply me such as names and email addresses subscribers.
Where appropriate I may obtain data from third parties by way of reference, background check, fraud protection, or by searching for publicly available data.
What do I do with this data?
I maintain a database of contact details in order to facilitate new book notifications, book news, sales and other author-related promotional material. This includes, for example, keeping you up to date, informing you of progress & milestone markers, sending you details about my books.
How long will I keep your data?
Data on email subscribers will be held for as long as you remain a subscriber. As well as using the data to provide you information while you are a subscriber, I may use your data afterwards to sort out any contractual disputes, prevent fraud, prove you had previously been a subscriber, and follow my legal obligations. I may also use this information in the aggregate to see how subscribers use my emails and optimise service delivery.
The length of time I retain data may vary based on need, but I will only keep your data as long as I consider it necessary.
Who do I share your data with?
Your data will only be shared with explicit consent or where necessary to facilitate service delivery. For example I may share it with my legal representatives where necessary, or provide it to relevant authorities, law enforcement, or credit reference agency where legally required.
What are your rights?
You have a right to update the information I hold by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org
You have the right to ask me to delete your data (however there may be circumstances in which I am legally entitled to retain it).
To get a free copy of any data I hold within 30 days of making a request by email to email@example.com
To object to the processing of your data except where I have a legal right to process it.
To make a complaint to the Information Commission if you think I have breached your rights (www.ICO.org.uk).
I will always try my best to resolve any data privacy issue you may have. In the first instance please contact me via email with your problem. You have the right to refer any data privacy issue to the Information Commissioner’s Office at any time.
